A tasty deal for Rovers
Posted on 13/8/2010
Blackburn Rovers have agreed a deal with local company Clayton Park Bakery to be the club’s official bakery.
The Accrington-based bakery will also supply a premium range of products to both Blues Bar at Ewood Park and The Brew Room at Oneroverstore, the club’s new town centre outlet on Church Street.
Barry Thomas, managing director at Clayton Park, said: “As the closest Premier League club to our bakery in Clayton-le-Moors, Rovers have been on our wish list for a number of years.
“We are delighted to have won this contract to supply our quality pies, bread and cakes to the club. Among our employees are many Rovers’ fans who take great pride in supplying the club they support and who will now be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour at every single home game.
“This is not only a boost for Clayton Park Bakery, but also our many local suppliers who will benefit from this extra business.”
It is always a key aim of Blackburn Rovers to source and support companies within the local community, but it is also hoped that supporters will indulge in the true taste of Lancashire.
Melanie Lewis, general catering manager at Rovers, said: “Clayton Park Bakery is an example of the county’s great reputation for food producers and quality produce. However, our main aim was always to find the best pies from across the entire nation. We’re lucky that the best is on our doorstep.
“The team at Clayton Park make superior pies, bread and cakes, which we know the fans will enjoy.
“We’ve listened to the fans and worked hard over the summer to vary our range of pastries. In fact, some products are currently exclusive to Blackburn Rovers, including the Cottage Pie and Balti Pie.
“It’s just one of the many improvements to the catering operation on both matchdays and non-matchdays, which we hope people will enjoy this season.”
